Launch week: what we're hearing
First week of conversations with Singapore SMBs. Themes keep converging:
**Bookkeeping is always behind.** Every business we spoke to — a 14-person creative agency, a three-partner law firm, a fast-moving e-commerce team — had the same problem: the books are the last thing that gets done. Not because the people are lazy, but because the work is genuinely tedious and there is always something more urgent.
**AI is trusted for data entry, not judgment calls.** People are comfortable with the idea of an AI reading invoices and populating fields. What gives them pause is the idea of the AI deciding how to categorise something ambiguous. That's the trust gap we need to earn.
**GST is the sharpest pain point near the registration threshold.** Businesses that are newly required to register, or considering it, want to understand the mechanics clearly. The operational detail — chargeable supplies versus exempt, input tax apportionment, the difference between real and deemed input tax — is where people feel least confident. Framing: this is operational learning; verify with IRAS or a qualified adviser.
More to come as we keep listening.
